Thanks for this, Amy. I must admit that I had never heard of Saint Camillus. That's not surprising since most of the Saints that I have heard of played for the New Orleans NFL team.
So, I Googled him and this is what I learned.
Born in 1550 in Italy to a noble family, St. Camillus de Lellis proved too rowdy for his chosen profession—a soldier in the Venetian army. Gambling and dissolute living, along with a leg wound he received while fighting against the Turks, eventually took a toll on his health.
Now, I'm a fan. Rowdy, gambling, dissolute living, fighting ......hot damn, my kind of saint!
